Mass extinction
Definition: A mass extinction event is when species
vanish much faster than they are replaced. This is
usually defined as about 75% of the world's species
being lost in a short period of geological time - less than
2.8 million years.
Humas are to blame for the 6th mass extinction.
It is believed that increasing human population and
increased consumption since the industrial revelation is
causing destruction of habitats and species extinction.
When humans destroy habitats of heat them (climate
change) it cusses extinction as their habitat is now
outside there biological niches.
Humans are also introducing non-native animals into wild
areas causing extinction of the native animals as the
others invade there habitats.
Threated factors
1. Natural selection
This is where the spices are not well suited to its
environment and so reproduces less successfully this can
cause extinction. Humans are changing habitats more
quickly than the spices are adapting increasing extinction
levels.
2. Loss of habitat
This can be caused by deforestation, drainage of
wetlands, hedge row loss and agriculture. Hedgerows
provide a variety of light levels, temperature levels,
water availability and food this allows them to be home
