Summary SQE revision notes - Constitutional, Administrative Law and EU Law

This is the revision notes for Constitutional, Administrative Law and EU Law (FLK1) I pulled together when preparing for my SQE 1 in July 2023. They are clear and concise but comprehensive, and cover all topics and knowledge frequently examined and which you need to excel in SQE1. Legal tests and important pieces of information / deadlines are colour coded for better clarity and to facilitate memorising. I passed the exam at first attempt with high 1st quintile scores (i.e., 79% / 81%) relying solely on these notes so rest assured that these are sufficient for your purposes. Preparing for the SQE can be a daunting task, but with the right approach, you can make sure you're ready for the exam. First, familiarise yourself with the SQE content and structure – this can be done by taking a glimpse through my personal study notes as well as guidelines on the SRA website. Next, create a study plan and set aside time each week to study. Consistency is crucial. The syllabus of SQE 1 is rather broad – so make sure to break down the material into manageable chunks and make sure you have a good understanding of each area before moving on to the next. After covering all the areas, it would be good to do a quick review of the various topics to refresh your memory (especially the earlier topics which may feel a bit distant). My notes already summarised important knowledge picked up from practice tests, but it would be good to try taking practice tests to familiarise yourself with the exam questions and format – there are quite a lot of free resources available online. Make sure you attempt these practice tests under strict time constraint. Remember to memorise the legal tests (e.g., different limbs (objective vs subjective test) of criminal law offences) and timing / numbers on the few days before exam to keep your memory fresh. On the day of exam, make sure you get enough rest to stay energised and focused. And finally, all the best on your exam!
