, 1. INLEIDING
De Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD) is een politieke partij in Nederland.
Sinds 2006 is Mark Rutte de politieke leider van de VVD. Daarnaast is hij ook
minister-president en minister van Algemene Zaken.
De VVD is een conservatief-liberale partij. Dat betekent dat zij een samenleving
willen met zoveel mogelijk vrijheid voor de mens en zo min mogelijk bemoeienis van
de overheid. De belangrijkste waarden van de VVD zijn:

Bij de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen in 2021 behaalde de VVD 34 zetels, een meer
dan de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen in 2017. De VVD is daarmee de grootste partij in
Nederland. Momenteel heeft VVD 12 zetels in de Eerste Kamer en 5 in het Europees
Parlement. Heel het Europees Parlement heeft 705 zetels waarvan Nederland er 29
heeft.
Op 10 januari 2022 trad het nieuwe kabinet aan. Het kabinet wordt gevormd door
VVD, D66, CDA en de ChristenUnie en bestaat uit 20 ministers en 9
staatssecretarissen.

VVD zijn. Voor de vierde
keer leidt Mark Rutte een
kabinet. De regeringspartijen
hebben een kleine
meerderheid in de Tweede
Kamer, namelijk 76 zetels.
