Marktmechanisme/prijsmechanisme: het samenspel van vraag en aanbod bepaalt voor
welke prijs er welke hoeveelheid op de markt wordt aangeboden.
Evenwichtsprijs/marktprijs: de prijs die in het marktmechanisme tot stand komt.
o Evenwichtshoeveelheid: de hoeveelheid die bij deze prijs aangeboden en
gevraagd wordt.
De marktvorm wordt bepaald door verschillende kenmerken:
Het aantal aanbieders
o Volkomen concurrentie: hierbij is het aantal aanbieders zo groot dat elke
aanbieders een klein deel van de totale afzet voor zijn rekening neemt.
De individuele aanbieders heeft geen invloed op de prijs, omdat hij
maar een zeer klein marktaandeel heeft.
De individuele aanbieder heeft geen enkele macht op deze
markt en kiest alleen hoeveel producten hij wil aanbieden.
Het soort product
o Homogene producten: producten die voor kopers identiek zijn, er zijn geen
(kwaliteits)verschillen tussen de verschillende aanbieders.
De hoogte van de toetredingsbarrières
o De toetredingsbarrières zijn laag, er is vrije toe- en uittreding.
De marktkenmerken maken een markt van volkomen concurrentie transparant.
Dit wil zeggen dat de marktpartijen (vragers en aanbieders) volledig geïnformeerd zijn
over de aard van het product en de prijs waartegen het wordt verhandeld.
De bovengenoemde kenmerken komen in de praktijk nooit allemaal tegelijk voor.
De marktvorm volkomen concurrentie is daarom vooral en theoretische marktvorm.
o Dit geldt ook voor de transparantie.
In de praktijk zullen consumenten nooit in staat zijn om de prijzen bij
alle aanbieder te vergelijken.
