- Dualisme > lichaam en geest gescheiden

Descartes: lichaam en geest gescheiden: substantiedualisme
Twee substanties:
- Lichaam: mechanisch, stoffelijk, ruimte, res extensa (het uitgebreide ding)
- Geest: denken, onstoffelijk, niet-ruimtelijk, res cogitans (het denkende ding)
Interactieprobleem: hoe beweegt/bestuurt de geest het lichaam?
Ziel: maakt dat het lichaam veel beter werkt dan een machine, want de ziel maakt dat de
mens inzicht heeft.

de mens/persoon > ding/wereld
(Descartes) geest > lichaam
Wagenmenner (Plato):
De ziel houdt het lichaam in bedwang.
Menner = ziel
Paard/wagen = lichaam
Materialisme:

- Putnam: lichaam = hardware, ziel/geest = software
- Swaab: wij zijn ons brein
- Vrije wil?!
Gesitueerd lichaam:
- Lichaam en geest niet geïsoleerd, maar altijd in interactie met omgeving (situatie).
- Bewustzijn = bewust zijn van iets binnen én buiten jezelf
- Fenomenologie: mens gericht op verschijnselen/fenomenen/situatie buiten zichzelf
