M1 – Explain how the management of human, physical and technological resources can improve
the performance of a given business.

In this task, I am going to outline how the management of human, physical and technological
resources will help improve the performance of Apple.

Resources are important to Apple and they’re needed by Apple in order to improve the performance
of the business as a whole. Whether the resources are human, physical or technological resources,
they all afect the performance of Apple and how the business is run.

Human resources are one of the major resources needed by Apple because without human
resources who actually communicate with other people such as customers and clients, Apple will be
unable to keep running. Apple need to ensure that they have good management of their human
resources because they’re the main resources that make a big impact on Apple. For instance, Apple
need to ensure that their staf that serve their customers in retail stores (whether they’re cashiers or
customer assistants) have a good attude towards customers and be able to be approachable for
customers because if staf look approachable then they can help Apple’s customers with their needs,
therefore customers will be satssed with Apple’s services. As a result of this, Apple will be providing
a good customer service. However, the benest to an extent depends on how many of Apple’s staf
show that they’re part of Apple and are willing to help customers. This is because if there are some
staf that show absenteeism within Apple, not being a team player with their colleagues, not having
a good attude etc. then there is a lack of staf motvaton, therefore Apple struggle to retain their
employees, leading to a downfall in their quality of customer services.

As well as this, physical resources are also one of the major resources that Apple need in terms of
improving the performance of the business as a whole because with good physical resources actve,
Apple will have the ability to atract and serve more customers. For example, if one of Apple’s retail
stores were in a busy street such as Oxford Street in London then Apple will atract more customers
because Oxford Street is a very busy street packed full of people, meaning that Apple are most likely
to serve customers. As a result of this, Apple will increase their market share, leading to an increase
in prosts with an improvement in customer service. However, the benest to an extent will depend
on where Apple place their retail stores. This is because if Apple place the majority of their retail
stores in a quiet area then hardly any customers will visit their store, which will lead to a decrease in
customers. Furthermore, Apple need to place their retail stores somewhere where their customers
can easily access the stores such as having car parks, placing their stores near public transport (e.g.
train statons) and having disabled access, meaning that Apple can atract a wide range of
customers. As a result of this, Apple will boost their reputaton, leading to an increase in prosts and
market share. However, this depends on if all customers in their home locaton can easily access
their nearby Apple’s retail stores or not. This is because if only a few of Apple’s retail stores have
easy access for customers and not all of the stores in the area (whether natonally or internatonally)
then obviously some customers will be unable to access the retail stores, meaning that Apple
haven’t st the customer’s needs, therefore Apple could lose reputaton.

Technological resources are one of the major resources needed the most by Apple in order to
improve their performances because technology is the main trend in the world today as technology
is always developing and improving. Apple can use technological resources in order to improve their
products as their products like iPhones, Apple Macs, iPads etc. are all technology devices produced
and sold by Apple and if they improve their technological resources then they can improve the
quality of their products. As a result of this, Apple will increase their prosts and market share, as well
as improving the quality of their products. However, this depends on how good Apple’s current
