AI within medicine, and how it could
be utilised to the benefit of both the
patient and health care professionals,
in the sense that it provides a more
efficient consultation and puts less
pressure onto healthcare
professionals. That being said, there
are possible pitfalls, for example,
would reducing the human interaction
between the patient and healthcare
professional be a good idea, for the
sake of a faster, cheaper consultation?
The article stated that in the trial
study, healthcare professionals with a
background in diabetes expertise were
posed common answers regarding
diabetes from both a healthcare
professional and an AI generated
answer from chat GPT. What they
found was that generally, they could
not tell the difference between both
answers, however, the answers
provided by Chat GPT sometimes
contained slight misinformation, which
would need to be monitored if used in
the future.
