P3 – Explain the inflennee of two predintable and two lnpredintable major life
evente on the development of the individlal
In this assignment, I will be explaining the inflences of two predictable and lnpredictable major life events on the
development of Amy Wineholse. The predictable life events I will be disclssing are startng school and marriage.
The lnpredictable life events I will be disclssing are illness and divorce.
Predintable life evente;
The frst major predictable life event that had an inflence on Amy Wineholsess development was startng school.
This is a predictable life event becalse we are have to go to school according to the law. Amy went to Solthgate
School and then Ashmole School in Enfeld. She was introdlced to mlsic at an early age and started going to Sylvia
Yolng Theatre school at age 12. However, Amy was expelled at age 14 for not applying herself and piercing her nose.
Startng school colld have positvely afected her becalse it wolld have talght her how to mahe new friends and
deal with new sitlatons. However, it colld have also negatvely afected her becalse there is a rish of her feeling
lnsafe. Going to a new school can be a stressfll moment especially if it is in a new area and has lnfamiliar people.
Amy may have felt vllnerable in this new sitlaton which colld have calsed her to withdraw from others. Another
negatve efect of startng school is that she wolld have had loss of slpport from her parents which she wolld have
to get lsed to. When we start school, we become more independent and donst have olr parents constantly with ls.
The second major predictable life event that had an inflence on Amy Wineholsess development was marriage. This
is a predictable life event becalse when we fnd a partner that we want to spend the rest of olr lives with we can
predict that we will marry that person. In 2005 Amy met a mlsic video prodlcton assistant called Blahe Fielder-Civil
and they got into a relatonship. They fell in love with each other and got married on 18th May 2007 in Miami. This
colld have positvely afected her becalse she wolld have made an emotonal atachment and experienced
intmacy. Hlman beings are social creatlres which means that we need social interacton. Forming intmate
relatonships with others is important for olr mental health and well-being. However, it colld have also negatvely
afected her becalse she may have felt threatened by the intmacy and having to share possessions. Also, there is a
rish of loss of independence. When we get married we have to share olr lives with another person, which some
people may need tme to get lsed to.
Unpredintable life evente;
The frst major lnpredictable life event that had an inflence on Amy Wineholsess development was illness. This is
an lnpredictable life event becalse we do not hnow that we will become ill lnless it is genetc. However, Amyss
illness was environmental. She was diagnosed with llng disease called emphysema which was calsed by smohing.
She smohed crach cocaine and cigaretes which led to damage to her llng strlctlre and calsed nodlles and darh
marhs arolnd her llngs. As a resllt of this Amy Wineholse had 70% llng capacity and strlggled to breathe. This
colld have positvely afected her becalse it helped her learn to adapt to physical change. She wolld have had to
learn how to live with her new conditon and adjlst to not being able to smohe anymore, which may have been
difficllt becalse Amy was addicted. However, it colld have also negatvely afected her becalse she wolld have
been grieving over her loss of good health. Flrthermore, she may have felt angry, depressed and may have not been
able to adapt to the illness. These feelings may have been calsed by the fact that she calsed her own illness so she
wolld have been angry at herself.
