Yergason's test - --purpose: integrity of transverse ligement
-result: tendon of long head of biceps will pop out of groove
*tenderness in the bicipital groove alone w/o the dislocation may indicate
bicipital paratenonitis/tendinosis
Forearm begins in pronation and elbow flexed shoulder in neutral ... resist
pnt supination while palpating bicipital groove
-Speed's test - --purpose: ID bicipital tendinosis/tendinopathy
-result: pain in long head of biceps tendon/increased tenderness in the
bicipital groove
resisted shoulder flexion once in 90 degrees flexion with forearm supinated
-Neer's Impingement test - --purpose: impingement of supraspinatus &
biceps tendon
-result: reproduces symptoms of pain in the shoulder region

(not over the AC jt) in the 1st part of the test & eliminated or decreased in
the 2nd part, the test is (+) for labral abnormalities
-Biceps Load test - --purpose: check integrity of superior labrum
-result:
1) if apprehension decreases or pt feels more comfortable, test is (-) for a
SLAP lesion
2) if apprehension remains the same or shoulder becomes more painful, test
is (+) for SLAP lesions
-Pain Provocation (Mimori) test - --purpose: to ID slap lesion
-result: if pain is provoked only in the pronated position or more severe in
the pronated position, test considered (+) for SLAP tear
-Lateral Rotation Lag Sign (aka Infraspinatus "Spring Back" test) - --purpose:
to test teres minor & infraspinatus
-result: for a (+) test, pt can't hold the position and hand springs back
anteriorly toward midline, indicating infraspinatus & teres minor can't hold
position due to weakness/pain
-Abdominal Compression test (aka Belly-Press or Napoleon test) - --purpose:
checks subscapularis mm
-result: if pt is unable to maintain pressure on examiner's hand while moving
elbow forward, or posteriorly flexes wrist or extends shoulder, the test is (+)
for a tear of the subscapularis mm
-Jerk test - --purpose: to test recurrent posterior instability
-result: a (+) test is the production of a sudden jerk or clunk as the humeral
head slides off (subluxes) the back of the glenoid). When the arm is returned
to the original 90 degree ABD position, 2nd jerk may be felt as the head
reduces
-Sulcus Sign - --purpose: to test for inferior shoulder instability
