BTEC level 3 Diploma in Business Daniil Chernat

Unit number: Unit 19 Unit ttle: Developing teams in Business

P6) Review the team’s overall efeetveness, together with your eontributon to aehieve the
goals, reeeiving the providing feedbaek to other team members.

What style of leadership did you use as a ehairperson?

When I was a chairman for the group during the assignment, the leadership style that I used was
Transformatonal. For example, I had a high level of communicaton and I was focusing on the bigger
picture and I was delegatng smaller tasks to team to achieve our main goal.

How good you were at taking minutes?

I think I was taking minutes accurately. In my minute keeping notes I included good ideas and recorded
any conficts that occurred.

How did you work as a part of the team?

I was involved in being a leader of the team and I was communicatng with my team to achieve each
goal that needed to be reached. In additon to that, I was taking minutes which means that I was
Recording informaton about venues, pricing and place where we could possibly have a Christmas meal.
On top of that, I was emailing Rupert to work out the budget and how many students and teacher will
come to Christmas evening meal.

How did other team members perform?

Each day, a diferent member of team was chairman. For instance, frst day I was a chairman. In my
opinion, in terms of Belbin’s theory I was a shaper and specialist. The reason for that is because I was
challenging and dynamic which means that I was trying to make my team as productve as possible.
However, I analyzed my attitude and I have realized that I was ofending people’s feelings. In additon to
that, I was a bit provocatve as I had a small argument with Erken about venues and costs. Therefore,
this has slowed our team progress as it took us some tme to come up with a soluton. This also means
that that we were experiencing the storming phase within Tuckman’s theory.

On the second day the chairman was Erken. Erken was a chairman and he can be referred to Belbin’s
theory. In terms of Belbin’s theory, Erken would be a teamworker as he was contributng a lot and he
was very diplomatc. However, he is infexible that makes him slow on new possibilites. Infexibility has
slowed down our group, therefore it took us more tme to fnd a potental venue and price of the event.

On the third day, the chairman was Alex. In my opinion, in terms of Belbin’s theory Alex was a
teamworker and monitor evaluator. Alex was very diplomatc and he was trying to avoid all conficts. In
additon to that, he can judge accurately and he can see all potental optons. However, sometmes he
can be overly critcal which could possibly ofend people feeling.

On fourth day, Phoebe was a chairman. In my opinion, in terms of Belbin’s theory Phoebe was a
teamworker. She was avoiding all conficts and she was contributng as much as possible. For instance,
she was phoning restaurants to ask for reservaton dates.

On day fve, all team was operatng as a cohesive team which in Tuckman’s term would be “performing..
This means that all members of team were doing a specifc roll, therefore we had no specifc leader.
