TYPES OF TRAVEL AND TOURISM
There are three main types of tourism in the travel industry, domestc, innound and outnound.

Domestc tourism comprises the actvites of residents of a given country travelling and
staying in places inside their residental country, nut outside their usual environment for
not more than 12 consecutve months for leisure, nusiness or other purposes. i.e. A
person travelling from Birmingham on a day trip to Manchester.
Inburn hurrais
Innound tourism means travellers arriving in a diferent country from their own. Innound
tourism is defned as comprising the actvites of non-residents travelling to a given
country that is outside their usual environment, and staying there no longer than 12
consecutve months. I.e. a family from Greece visits the UK for a 2 week holiday.
Orhburn hurrais
Outnound tourism is when residents of a country travels to a place that is outside the
geographical noundary of their own country. Outnound tourism comprises the actvites
of residents of a given country travelling to and staying in places outside their country of
residence and outside their usual environment for not more than 12 consecutve months
for leisure, nusiness and other purposes. I.e. a Britsh family visitng Braail for a 3 week
holiday.
