P3/M2/D1 – Review the risk assessment controls and evaluate their effectiveness

Rugby and Football

There are a few controls which I have suggested in my risk assessments. For example, the
most basic control in rugby is wearing studs, this is important because it would reduce the
chances of injury occurring. If there was a rugby game and a player didn’t have studs, he
would experience himself tripping and slipping a lot because his shoes wont acquire much
grip to hold on to the ground and this may mean that he would struggle to perform at the
best of his ability. I have alternatively included another pair of studs or special devices to
screw in the studs so the players can then perform effectively on the pitch. Another solution
is ensuring the referee making quick observations in order to identify players not wearing
studs; this is effective since the referee is complying with the health and safety act
considerably.

Gum shields are one of the most predominant factor and the possible solutions I have
included for this is the players must resent at the beginning of the match that they are
wearing gum shields for their own safety. The coaches can provide spare sets of gum shields
if the player either lost or damaged his, this would mean that the level of protection has
increased significantly as the chances of losing teeth would be highly unlikely. This may
result in the game proceeding without delay since all the players are again following the
health and safety act respectively.

Persistent standing in supporters seated areas was also another issue and the main solution
for this was the club producing reference marks in terms of wear visitors and supporters
may stand in order to restrict other people from indulging in other people areas. This
method is very effective since there would be less stress for the supporters as they won’t
need to stroll around having the best possible view since they have their own personal
space. This also shows that the public awareness is being increased as well as the supporter.

One more problem was unauthorised admissions to grounds which in other words signify
that too many people are trespassing and therefore approached to the stadium in illegal
terms, which results in committing an offence. The possible resolution for this is that I have
appointed stewards at each exit which ensures that security had become tighter and
therefore the chances of people sneaking in will be narrowed substantially. Additionally, I
have come up with the idea of the security marking the tickets which shows that it’s no
longer valid anymore in order to prevent unauthorised visitors to enter the stadium without
payment. This would mean that the club won’t lose out on their total revenue in the long
run, as people cannot use the same ticket again and again because it’s marked off.

Items being thrown on the ground is a big problem in the modern times as it can cause
injuries to rugby players which is clearly unjustifiable. In order to prevent this from occurring
in the future I have appointed several stewards around the stadium and mostly to areas
where there would seem to be lots of noises or groups of young teenagers. This process is
