Assignment 1: Skills, Techniques and Tactics Required in Two Team...
Practical Team Sports
B-TEC Level 3 Unit 8 – P1/M1
Explain skills, techniques and tactics required in two different team sports
Task 1 - Football
Skills
This is the ability for a player to perform something through systematic process with
effort. There are a wide range of skills, for example, passing is a skill which is often
used in football and this takes a few steps to cater for such as; the preparation and
executing stage. This is a basic skill used to implement a pass. In order to perform
this successfully, the player must use his opposite (weak foot) next to the ball to gain
balance and must time the pass carefully by kicking the ball with his stronger foot. He
would be able to manage kick the ball effectively if he was to have a certain distance
from the ball; not being to close where the player would miskick the ball or being
way too far from the ball where he would then toe punt the ball instead.
Tactic
This is a strategy used to plan how to tackle problems and improve the performance
of the team to achieve while playing a football game, considering the strengths and
weaknesses involved. For example an attacking tactic would be a way to cause
damage to the opposition by playing offensively, this may include changing the type
of formation from 4,4,2 to 4,3,3. This means that the chances of scoring are slightly
increased because more players are playing in a striker’s role which is to score goals.
A defensive tactic can also be used for instance, changing the formation from 4,4,2 to
5,3,2. This implies the fact that the team is making difficult for the oppositions to
score and decreases the chances from conceding a goal. Tactics are useful since it
changes the way in terms of progression.
Technique
This is a method often used to successfully manage a particular task, in terms of
football; technique is simply defined as the physical movement being involved and
how to improve the performance of your basic skill into complex skill. For example,
there are different types of passes, the following are; through ball over the top, a
little chip or a long cross. For instance if the player will try to pass the ball to his team
mate from a distance he would have to use the long cross method since it is more
efficient. In order to make the best possible pass he would have to kick the ball by
using his laces instead of the inside foot of his boots this is because the player must
generate enough power in his pass to get to his teammates feet, this method is
effective since this type of pass is more suitable as it requires the player to get his
foot under the ball which increases the chances of beating the defender.
