Task 2
A, Compare the sites and amounts of ATP produced and consumed during aerobic and
anaerobic breakdown of glucose You might consider using tables or diagrams or both to
carry out this task.
In actual fact, there are four molecules of ATP which are produced per molecule of glucose;
however, two of these are used, which is why at this stage, the net total of ATP molecules is
+2.
Anaerobic respiration, occurs in our bodies mainly during quick intense spurts of exercise,
the body is not able to produce enough for the normal aerobic process to occur.
The body tries pumping blood all around the body but it is not able to do so, in the areas
where is required as fast enough, and when the breakdown of glucose starts, to convert it
into ATP molecules, and with it there's also lactic acid produces, which is the waste product.
