Here you need to include:
why you have chosen this syllabus type
why you have chosen the topic(s) covered
why you have chosen this target language/skill
the rationale behind the structure of the course, e.g. why is it in this order?
how the course will meet the learner’s needs
I chose the Multi-Syllabus because it is based on a combination of topics, structures,
vocabulary, and skills practices. It is very flexible which enables you to use a variety of
activities to meet your student’s needs. I can play around with different activities and
materials depending on the student’s progress as we along. Once I see the student’s
needs are met, I can focus on the areas that he still needs to improve. This allows for the
students to give in input as to what he would like to do more and allows for me to alter
the course according to his needs.
After going through the questionnaire that the student has completed, I found that the
topics the student is interested in are based on his needs. Using these topics will keep my
student motivated and interested in the lesson, therefore, producing results. Syllabus
topics include current affairs (Israel-Palestine conflict), environment (Climate change due
to high human emissions), science (The rising development of AI), and film (film review
and discussion).
The targeted skills are speaking and listening focusing more on pronunciation and fluency.
This is in the needs analysis questionnaire and student is very specific on the skills he
wishes to learn and improve on. As the teacher I will apply all the needs in the syllabus
based on the student’s required skills. The structure of the course will allow the student
to participate in all activities while using the L2. It will also allow us to work on each skill
that the student needs to focus on in stages to give him enough time to gain confidence.
