I Changed into my uniform, wore the correct footwear and tucked my hijab into my shirt.
Made sure I wasn't wearing jewelry & my nails were short.
Throughout the day I followed the HTM 01-05 standards to decrease the risk of infection.
Washed my hands using the six step hand hygiene technique provided by the NHS to reduce
cross-infection. I must also close the sink with my elbow to avoid dirty hand contamination. I
made sure to wash my hands after each of the following instances: after touching a patient’s
surroundings, after touching a patient, after exposure to body fluid, after undertaking a clinical
procedure and after touching a patient. This is in accordance with HTM105.
I put on my personal protective equipment which consists of single use: visor, examination
gloves, face mask and apron.
I switched on the compressor & dental units for the surgery and made sure all equipment I
needed for the day was ready for use, this includes: computer, x-ray machine and dental chair
(chair, light and aspiration equipment). While doing this, I checked if they were in good
