ENG1501
ASSIGNMENT NO: 02
YEAR : 2024
PREVIEW:
THE ESSAY:
Before starting this module, my experience with fiction, particularly short stories, was
somewhat limited. While I had encountered a few short stories during my high school
studies, I hadn't explored the genre extensively. However, I do enjoy reading fiction, and
one short story that left a lasting impression on me is "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.
The story's unsettling themes and thought-provoking commentary on human nature and
societal conformity intrigued me and showcased the power of short fiction to provoke
reflection.
