A Journey Through Novels: Unveiling Hidden Depths
Unit 4 on the Novel has been an eye-opening experience. While I've always
enjoyed reading, I primarily focused on fantasy and adventure novels, escaping
into fantastical worlds. This unit delved deeper, showcasing the immense power
and versatility of the novel format.
Before this unit, my exposure to South African literature was limited. However, I
had recently read Miriam Tlali's "Muriel at Metropolis," a coming-of-age story that
explores themes of race, class, and female identity under apartheid. While the
