Introduction
I have been asked to choose a large business. I have chosen Asda. With the
research I find, I must create a case study that includes Asda’s recruitment and
selection processes. I must analyse and evaluate this information and find reasons
why these processes have contributed to the businesses success. I will be talking
about the businesses activities, its size but also demonstrate an understanding of its
workforce planning and the recruitment and selection process.
Business synopsis
Asda is a very popular UK supermarket that has a large market share. They have
stores in 27 countries as they offer groceries and everyday essential products. Since
2014, they have launched the clothing brand “George”, where customers are able to
purchase clothing that can be seen as budget friendly. Customers are able to save
money but also purchase items that are high quality giving them the best value.
Asda is a public limited company which means they are required to publish their
financial position as potential shareholders need to know if the shares are worth
investing in .Since Asda is a PLC, it means that they have limited liability, which
means they will be legally distinct from the company's owners. All of Asda's assets
will be safeguarded in the event that they incur debt. In 2022, Asda had made around
£24.5 billion profit.

many more they will require in order to determine their demands. Asda uses a
workforce planning table such as appraisals. This is so that they can monitor the
performance of employees accomplished such as if they are providing good
customer service. By doing this, Asda is able to make sure that their employees are
right for the business, which will lead to less mistakes and dissatisfaction. This
means that there will be more high quality work being produced. Another workforce
planning that Asda uses is Balance score cards (BSC). This is used on the financial
perspective of the business but also customer perspective, an internal business
