2. FEEDBACK ON ASSIGNMENT 01
Many students ask how long their answers should be. Since handwriting can differ considerably from
person to person, it is not easy to give an exact answer. However, to provide you with an indication of how
long an answer to a question should be, we use a guideline of roughly one page per ten marks, depending
on the nature of the question. This indication is used for paragraph and essay-type questions.
Below we provide general, brief guidelines on what was expected for each question, together with
reference to Foxcroft and Roodt (2009, 2013). Use what we provide here as a guideline.
SEMESTER 1
ASSIGNMENT 01: COMPULSORY ASSIGNMENT
Closing date: 15 March 2018
Total: 50 marks
Unique number: 754020
QUESTION 1 (Learning Unit 9)
Discuss the impact of social desirability on personality testing and the measures devised to overcome this
problem. (10)
The transparency of personality questionnaires makes it possible for some examinees to attempt to
manipulate the results. A discussion on test-taking attitudes and response biases is provided in Section
9.5 of the study guide.
