What is a TURP? - ANS-Transurethral resection of the prostate
What are some post op examples of ways to prevent complications after a TURP? -
ANS--Increase CBI rate if bright red is seen
-If it becomes obstructed irrigate with 50mL
-Call the provider if the clot cannot be dislodged call the doctor
-Avoid caffeine
TURP catheter complications - ANS--The patient will feel a constant need to void
-Initial voiding can be painful and red in color
-Around 50 mL/hr is the expected output
Acute kidney injury diet - ANS-Implement potassium, phosphate, sodium and
magnesium, HIGH protein diet
Hypokalemia s/s - ANS-Low BP, confusion, hypoactive bowels, reduced deep tendon
reflexes, shallow breathing
Rifampin - ANS-TB medication, can cause urine to be orange, report yellowing of the
