A) De vorming van de schedel
• De schedel (cranium) bestaat ruwweg uit 2 delen:
❖ de hersenschedel of neurocranium
→ beenderen die de hersenen als omhulsel omgeven
→ het neurocranium bestaat uit:
- schedeldak
- schedelbasis
❖ de aangezichtschedel of viscerocranium
→ beenderen van het aangezicht, ontstaan uit de farynxbogen
• Verschillende indelingen:
❖ Indeling naar HISTOLOGIE:
- Chondrocranium : enchondrale beenvorming
▪ Schedelbasis
▪ aangezicht
- Desmocranium : desmale beenvorming
▪ Schedeldak
▪ aangezicht
❖ Indeling naar OORSPRONG:
- Viscerocranium
- Neurocranium
- Kraakbenige kapsels rond de zintuigen ( 3 paar)

1. Endochondrale aanleg: de schedelbasis
Schedelbasis ontstaat uit een mediane kraakbeenplaat
2 herkomsten :
A) Prechordaal chondrocranium : VOORSTE DEEL
➔ bw afkomstig van de crista neuralis. (ecto-mesenchym)
▪ os ethmoidale
▪ os sphenoidale
B) Chordaal chondrocranium : ACHTERSTE DEEL
➔ bw afkomstig van somieten, van para-axiale mesoderm
▪ parachordaal kraakbeen
▪ trabeculae
▪ hypophysekraakbeenderen
Wat meer uitleg bij B)
❖ Uit het mesenchym dat het craniaal deel van de chorda omringt differentieert
zich beiderzijds: het parachordaal kraakbeen
→ De kraakbeenplaat die zich hieruit ontwikkelt is de aanleg van de pars basilaris
van het os occipitale
❖ Ventraal van het parachordaal kraakbeen liggen beiderzijds de
hypophysekraakbeenderen en de trabeculae
→ De trabeculae zijn een paar langwerpige kraakbeenderen die onder het
telencephalon en het voorste deel van het diencephalon (ventraal van het
infundibulum) liggen.
De trabeculae, de hypophysekraakbeenderen en de parachordale kraakbeenderen
versmelten met elkaar.
