AdrenalineContra's (1) - ANS-1. Hypovolaemic shock without adequate fluid replacement
Dose - ANS-Cardiac Arrest:
Adults: 1mg IV every 3 mins (all arrests)
Paeds: 10mcg/kg IV or IO
P.E.I (6) - ANS-1. Bradycardia with poor perfusion
2. Anaphylaxis
3. Cardiac arrest - asystole, VF/VT, PEA
4. Croup
5. Inadequate perfusion
6. Severe asthma - imminent life threat not responding to nebulised therapy, or
unconscious with no BP
Pharmacology - ANS-A naturally occurring alpha ans beta-adrenergic stimulant
- Increases HR by increasing SA node firing rate (Beta 1)
- Increases conduction velocity through AV node (Beta 1)
- Increases myocardial contractility (Beta 1)
- Increases irritability of ventricles (Beta 1)
- Causes bronchodilation (Beta 2)
- Peripheral vasoconstriction (Alpha)
Precautions (4) - ANS-Reduced doses may be considered for:
1. Elderly/frail
2. Patients with cardiovascular disease
3. Patients on monamine oxidase inhibitors
4. Higher doses may be required for patients on beta blockers
