P1 - Describe the current business travel environment.
Types of business travel
Incentive travel- some companies reward their staff for good work. They send them on
holiday for more motivation so that they will be more dedicated in their work. Many
companies also have staff discount cards which they could use in other shops. They will also
have family discounts for the members of the staff’s family.
Example: Thomas cook and TUI
Exhibitions and trade fairs, conferences and meetings- busy businessman need to attend
very important meeting or trade fairs, hence they need to book hotels room and also flights
for travelling for such events.
Example: CT travels
Corporate events-this kind of events are mostly done to have a deals with other business in
order to advertise their company.
Examples: dynamite events
Business agencies-
Independent- independent travel business is where they manage the company by
themselves without the help of others. They usually have a small team are mostly a
specialist business.
Example: Southall travel agents
National- these types of travel agent mainly operate only within one country but they will
have few branches few different other countries.
Example: flight centre
Global-the global companies are the vast ones and have plenty amount of branches. These
companies operate worldwide and have been in the business market for a very long time.
Example: TUI and Thomas cook
Implant- this business agency is mostly small type of a travel agent. A large and successful
business then invites the smaller agency since the successful business will be able to profit
the smaller business.
E-agent- an e-agent operates online. They will have a website specially designed for the
customers to look for their holidays. The booking and other things are done with the help of
the internet.
