Residential evaluation
Responsibilities prior to the visit

For the residential module we were asked to plan a holiday abroad, prior to the
visit of our chosen destination, which was Majorca, we had many responsibilities
we needed to carry out in order for the trip to run smoothly.

First of all, everyone in the group needed to provide all necessary personal
documents including passports and consent letters in the end I handed these
documents in on time however I had issues getting my passport as my previous
one was out of date which caused me a lot of stress. I also didn’t hand in my
consent letter until the day of the trip as I kept forgetting it at home therefore in
the future I should plan ahead and keep myself more organised to avoid any
complications. I also let my tutor know before the trip that I had no medical
conditions which may affect me from flying or going on the trip therefore this
meant I didn’t have to remember to bring any medicine however we all ensured
we had an ETHIC card ready for when we leave in case we got sick or injured
whilst abroad, this is something I did well as I already had my ETHIC card and
therefore I just provided the photo to the member of the team who was
responsible for making sure everyone had one. Moreover, I provided my tutor
with two emergency contacts which included; their name, relationship to me,
number and email address in case something happened whilst abroad.

As a group we came up with a suitable code of conduct which ensured we were
safe at all times and abiding by the college’s rules and regulations due to this
being a college trip, I participated in this by providing the group with ideas such
as sticking together and not leaving the resort during the night. Prior to the visit
we also created a document on visitor information where we each researched
possible places to eat or drink, any events which were going on, attractions
available nearby and a weather forecast to help us be more prepared for when
we arrive. I participated well in this research and found many restaurants by the
harbour in Cala Bona which we ended up eating at on some days and by knowing
what the weather was going to be like I was able to pack accordingly and stay
within my kg allowance.

Another responsibility we had was producing itineraries, we split of into smaller
groups and each got given a day to produce an itinerary for as this would help us
keep organised. My group got given day 4 and we decided on this day we could
visit a local market nearby in Son Servera as this would help us meet our
educational aims and objectives. I believe I did well in this task as I took the lead
and was the member of the team who created the itinerary, I also did a lot of
research for this and found many restaurants and a shopping centre nearby. On
the other hand, I missed a lot of days and this meant I wasn’t up to date with any
of the changes such as visiting the harbour on the same day therefore in the
future I should ensure I am always here to stay up to date. Finally, I needed to
