Introduction
My chosen company is going to be a company that buys and sells fruit, mainly focused
on blueberries. The base of this company is blueberries, every few months I will offer
another type of fruit next to the blueberries.
Type
This business will start from scratch, so it is going to be a new business. I’m using my
own idea of doing business. There are a couple of advantages to start a new business;
- It is less complicated to start your own new business than to buy an existing or
franchise business.
- I have the control of all aspects in the company, including what type of fruit is
offered, how I do my marketing and I choose my own location and who I hire to
work for me.
- Higher financial rewards
- Creativity and personal satisfaction
With all advantages there are some disadvantages as well:
- If the business is not doing as I hoped it would, there may be substantial financial
losses
- No guarantee income
- Higher amount of stress cause of the problems the business might have, I have
all responsibility and need to take all decisions.
- Time commitment will be different than when I would work for somebody else
- Independence and working hours might not be as expected
With a new business there are coming a lot of risks. To prepare my business correctly I
need to do a lot of research before I can officially open my business. It is essential that I
research the current market and see what people are interested in. it is also important to
start small; it is not realistic to provide everybody in Rotterdam with my blueberries.
