Unit 6: Preparing for employment in Travel and Tourism
Task 2: Final deadline- 14/11/2018
P3: Describe the stages of the recruitment and selection process, identifying good practices.
In this part of assignment, I will be briefly describing the recruitment process and identify the good
practise of organisation employing new employees.
Identifying company’s needs: Firstly, when the organisation decides that they are in need of new
staff they are doing something called ‘identifying company needs’. Every organisation has got a
staffing plan which provides the ideal number of the staff that each department of the organisation
should be having. The way the organisation searches and identifies needs is by looking for the right
person for a specific job title. Sometimes the organisation is lacking on employees due to previous
staff being fired, retirement or they have changed their role or gone work for a different company.
On top of that when deciding on what type of staff the organisation needs they also need to decide
for how long will they need the employee to work for them, how many hours per week, how long
will the contact be for?
Job descriptions: Once the organisation devise on what type of jobs they are in need staff for they
will create a job description which will be done for the future applicants to know information about
the job role. The job description is general statement which explains and describes information such
as; the type of the job, title, department, job purpose, hors of work, wage, responsibilities and
duties, psychical conditions, any circumstances and personal attitudes that the applicant must be
aware of before applying for the job role. The job role not only describes the job itself but also
informs the applicant whenever they are suitable for the job.
Person specification: The organisation does
not only need to create a job description
but also a person specification which is a
general statement that specifies on what
type of person the company is looking
forward to employ for a specific job title.
The person specification may include things
such as what type of skills the person
should have to be able to work for the job
role, whenever the person needs any
previous work experience, qualifications, or
special aptitudes and so on.
Advertising: Once the organisation identified the company’s needs, they are aware of how much
and what type of staff they are in need of they create the job description and person specification
which they then advertise through different types of methods. Organisation either advertise their
jobs internally or externally. Internally is when the job is being advertised within the company of
example on their own website platform and externally when it is advertised outside the company for
example via the internet, or newspapers. For example, Ryanair or Wizz air low cost airlines advertise
via both ways for example internally on their own websites or externally sing other specially made
job websites such as www.reed.com or www.indeed.com in which people exactly know that they
can find jobs for them on.
