L’ obra “El Verí del Teatre" es situa en la França prerevolucionària del 1784,
marcant els estaments socials de l’Antic Règim. L'escenari principal es la sala
rococó del Palau, en un París ficcionari i meravellós. Ambientada durant la
il·lustració, l’autor fa al·lusió a filosof com Socrates i Rosseau. Els dialegs
revelen referències espacials i culturals, com el palau rococó i l’Enciclopèdia
Rosseau. Objectes com mobles, cortinatges i elements com la botella d’antidot
resalten la reació directa amb l’època i l’escenari de l’obra.

1. Comediant parla amb el criat, criat li serveix un vi de Xipre.
2. Marques revela la seua identitat, li comenta la seua teoría sobre el
teatre, li diu el motiu de la cita. Volía que Gabriel respresentarà
l’angoixa de la lora de Sòcrates. Gabriel s’adorm
3. Es produeix la representació de Gabriel, però el Marques no está
satisfet. Gabriel marejat sospita que ha sigut enverinat.
4. El marqués li proposa un pacte, reconeix que l’ha enverinat pero si
representa una escena com ell vol li donarà un antidot. (3r
engany)
5. Li agrada l’actuació i li dona l’antidot, pero l’antidot era el verí i
finalment mor.
