OPSOMMING
Die verteller is 'n reisiger wat die landskap op intens visuele wyse ervaar –
van idilliese bewondering tot verraderlike ontnugtering. Die spreker reis
deur die Oos-Kaap en sien vet skape in die suurveld wei. Alles in die
natuur getuig van 'n "goeie jaar". Die gras is groen en daar is "plate"
blomme. Wanneer hy egter stilhou om 'n foto te neem, sien hy dat die
gras nie so groen is nie, veld uitgeput weens oorbeweiding, skape vol
klitsgras en dat daar selfs die karkas van 'n halfpad ontbinde skaap in die
gras skuil. Die stank daarvan dwing hom om sy neus toe te druk en te
