The different types of children’s representative and their entry requirements into employment.
The responsibility of a children's representative is to look after groups of children which include
babies to young adolescents. They also have to organize a varied program of activities throughout
the day, keeping them happy while also making sure that they are in a safe environment.
At Thomas cook there are 4 types of children’s representative that looks after certain age groups.
The first one is mini land which looks after 3-7 year olds, Lollo & Bernie Kids' Club which looks after
3-11 years old, teen lounge which looks after 8-11 and sometimes 12-15 year olds and the teen chill
out area which looks after 12-17 years old.
All these areas cover different fun activities based of their age group that they will be working with.
For mini land the entertainment members execute family shows carried out with kids disco and also
can play with big fluffy mascots. In teens lounge they have console games and also board games for
little children, the representatives also organise fun activities where they could take part in. They
also have pizza making with movie night and also splashy water games where they could have so
much fun. Beach boot camp with also teen idol which is a competition where they could win exciting
prizes. For Lollo & Bernie Kids' Club they have drawing competitions and fun activities and also are
able to play with the friendly mascots and the teen chill out areas is more like a relaxing place where
they reps organise plenty different fun activities where the children to take part in.
There are essential requirements that are required to be a children’s representative, these include a
level 3 certificate in childcare, SCQF Levels 6 or even 7 at play work, National Certificate (NC) for
Early Education and also Childcare -Level 5 or NVQ in childcare. They will also need certificate for
travel and tourism and also need to have past experience working with children (different age
groups) and the most important they need to have certificate in first aid. You will also need to have a
clean criminal background record in order to get this job. If you know any additional language there
is more advantage and also need to be 18 or over.

Describe the role of a children representative within the children’s club.
They will need to be very energetic and enthusiastic in organise and planning activities for children
making sure that they will have fun.
They have to makes sure that the area is clean in order to ensure the health and safety procedures.
It is extremely important that the children feel safe and also secure when they are in the club with
the representatives. The activities needs to be tested out first in order to make sure it’s safe for the
children. They also need to make sure that they sanitise the toys and also the area in order to
prevent any infections.
When the children are play they also have to watch over them making sure that they do not put little
toys in their mouth and eat them. They also have to report to the parents if any incidents takes place
with their children which makes sure that they parents are aware of the situation. They have to
resolve the conflicts between the children in a calm and friendly manner at all times. If any accident
or incidents take place it is the duty of the child representative to write a report which keeps it for
future records. They will also need to try and sell the excursions from their suppliers to get
incentives from the company. They also have to collect the families from airport to the hotel that
