D2 Evaluate your experience of planning and participating in the recruitment and
selection process
In this assignment, I will be evaluating my experience of planning and participating in the
recruitment and selection process. In this process as we were participating, our group
divided into two groups: interviewees and interviewers. As a result, my role was as an
interviewee, which I had to be prepared as an applicant for a Customer Assistant at Tesco.
The first thing to be considered before the interview started was to be well-prepared. This
means I had to be prepared before we participated in our interview with the rest of my
group. As interviewees, I had to do my own researches about the company (Tesco) and any
potential questions that they might ask me during the interview. This make more than ready
to be in the interview and to be well prepared in term of confidently and the information
required. Before the interview took place, I had to bring my own CV and cover letter as well
as the other required documents such as the job description and the job application form
that are part of the application pack. These documents are essential in the process of the
interview as it shows that I am well-organised person and would help me to stand out from
other candidate. They are also useful for the interviewer to come up with question form
them, which at the end of the day, it could play in important role in the success of my
interview.
Preparation is a key essential part of any successful process in the business environment.
Therefore, it was extremely useful to prepare for the interview as it built my confirmed in
term of knowledge and ability to answer the question in a good manner, leaving a good
impression with the interviewers. In fact, it was more helpful to make me feel confident and
to conquer my nervous in which even the experts in their fields might face. Being a well
prepared candidate in this interview is an extremely important aspect that every
interviewer is looking for in a successful candidate as it make outstanding and unique
candidate in selection process. This is because it give an important insight of what the
interview looks like and what is about to happen in the interview.
During the interview, I was extremely confident and relaxed when answering the questions
with a clear manner, not too fast or too slow, which made the interview very happy and
interested. The interview’s responds to my answers were very positive and enthusiastic
which made me more confident and comfortable during the entire interview.
Although, it was a very interesting interview and everything seems to be good, there is
always a room for improvements. As for example the interviews supposed to take the shape
of a panel interview that what they have told me before the interview took place, however
due to the lack of staff at the time, it was an individual interview where I had to meet a
one-to-one situation which at the first was extremely overwhelming. I personally feel that
the process would have been improved by having more than one person as an interviewer,
as it could come up with more than one opinion and different views on each candidate.
Therefore, this would have given me a higher change of to get the job, as the judgment will
be considered very carefully using the other people opinions. However, even it was not a
