Botten bestaat vooral uit:
o Kalkzouten: stevigheid
o Collageen: buigbaarheid
In skelet komen 2 soorten weefsel voor:
o Kraakbeenweefsel: cellen liggen in groepjes in elastische
tussencelstof (van lijmstof). Hierdoor is kraakbeen buigzaam
o Botweefsel: cellen ligging in kringen rond kleine kanaaltjes (daarin
lopen bloedvaten). Botcellen zijn verbonden door uitlopers.
Tussencelstof bestaat vooral uit kalkzouten en collageen. Hierdoor
is botweefsel hard (niet buigzaam)
Veranderingen in botweefsel
Baby’s: skelet bestaat vooral uit kraakbeenweefsel
Bij het ouder worden neemt hoeveelheid collageen in de botten af en
kalkzouten toe.
Schedelbeenderen van baby zitten nog niet aan elkaar vast
o Er zitten ruimtes tussen: fontanellen.
o Na 1 ½ jaar zijn ze dichtgegroeid en is alleen nog een naad te zien
