Note: The following criteria apply to:
ADULTS ADOLESCENTS CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6 YEARS.

A. EXPOSURE TO:
- Actual/threatened DEATH - Serious INJURY - SEXUAL violence
IN ONE (OR MORE) OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
1.Directly experiencing the traumatic event. EXPERIENCE
2.Witnessing in person the event WITNESS
occur to others.
3.Learning that the traumatic event occurred to a
family member/close friend. LEARN/HEAR
(In cases of actual/threatened death of family member
event must be VIOLENT/ACCIDENTAL).

, 4.Experiencing repeated/extreme exposure to aversive
details of the event.
(ex. police officer) REPEATED EXPOSURE
Note: Does NOT apply to exposure through electronic media, tv, movies/pictures (UNLESS exposure is work related).
B. INTRUSION SYMPTOMS:
PRESENCE OF ONE (OR MORE) OF THE FOLLOWING INTRUSION SYMPTOMS (ASSOCIATED WITH TRAUMATIC EVENT) , AFTER EVENT OCCURRED:
1.Recurrent, involuntary & intrusive distressing memories of event. MEMORIES
Note: In children older than 6: repetitive play may occur in which themes/aspects of event is expressed.
2.Recurrent distressing dreams in which content is related to event. DREAMS
Note: In children: frightening dreams without recognizable content.
3. Dissociative reactions (ex. flashbacks) feels/acts as if event is recurring. DISSOCIATIVE REACTIONS
(May occur on a continuum with most extreme expression: complete loss of
awareness of present surroundings).
Note: In children: trauma-specific re-enactment may occur in play.
