MINUS 2 BREATHS of evaluator's reading. Count for one full minute. For testing
purposes you may explain to the client that you will be counting the respirations.
*donning and removing PPE (gown and gloves)* - ANS-*no bold.* I'm thinking the really
important parts are NOT to touch the outside of the gown or gloves while you're doing it.
*dresses client with affected (weak) right arm* - ANS-assists to put the right (affected /
weak / frozen) arm through the right sleeve of the top BEFORE placing garment on left
(unaffected / normal) arm. You don't want to move the weak / frozen arm. LEFT arm is
the one you take it off first (since they can move it the easiest) and the LEFT arm is the
one you put it on LAST.
*feeds client who cannot feed self* - ANS-BEFORE feeding client, clien is in an
UPRIGHT SITTING position (45-90 DEGREES).

supporting the limb, moves joints gently, slowly, and smoothly through the range of
motion, discontinuing exercise if client verbalizes pain.

Ambulate Resident Using a Gait Belt - ANS-Supplies: Non-skid footwear, gait belt.
1. Opening and assure nonskid footwear is on.
2. Place gait belt around patient's waist.
3. Ensure a 4 finger space between patient and belt.
4. Have patient place hands on your shoulders while gripping the gait belt with both
arms around patient.
5. Assist patient with standing by counting to three. Let them stand still for a few
seconds and ask if they are dizzy.
6. Walk 10 steps and then 10 back while holding the gait belt with one hand on farthest
side.
7. Frequently ask about comfort, dizziness, or weakness
8. In same position as helping stand, lower patient into chair on count of three.
9. Remove gait belt.

5.) Assist resident to stand while holding belt only at the front or only at the nearest side.

before the resident sits.

13.) Remove transfer/gait belt from residents waist without harming resident (e.g. pulling
transfer/gait belt.) when seated in chair after ambulation
14.)Maintain own body mechanics when assisting the resident to stand and sit
15.)Leave resident positioned in chair in proper body alignment and hips against back of
seat
16.) Ask resident about preferences during care
17.) Use standard precautions and infection control measures when providing care
18.) Ask resident about comfort or needs during care or before care completed
19.) Promote residents rights and residents safety during care
