The issue:
High number of addicts in England, problem for society and individuals, if
addiction is an illness it needs to be treated like one by society. Drug taking
once addicted is compulsive not a choice, they need help.

effectiveness:
Needs to cover all aspects of life, not just the effects of the drug itself. Must
be tailored to the individual. Effective and necessary. Drugs have to be
effective in order for them to be prescribed.

Alcoholics Anonymous not wanting to use medication. Some drugs have a lot
of side effects, insufficient data. Some become addictive. Group therapies are
very effective

Heroin:
Methadone, opiate drug, agonist relives withdrawal prevents relapse, no
euphoria. Reduces craving.Mental crave, side effects.

CBT?
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you
manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.
People may not want other drugs, CBT could be used instead.
