Well-structured IOP4863 Assignment 3 (ANSWERS) 2024 - DISTINCTION GUARANTEED. (DETAILED ANSWERS - DISTINCTION GUARANTEED!)..... The case of Thandi Thandi is a 30-year-old African female. Thandi completed her BCom degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology (IOP) in 2013 and her BCom honours degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology (IOP) in 2015. Her husband is a mechanical engineer and they have two children under the age of six. The family lives in an urban area. Thandi is the first-born in a family of five, all of whom were born and raised in a semi-rural area. They all attended public schools for both primary and secondary education. From a young age, Thandi was very curious and liked to do things in a routine manner. Upon completing her BCom degree in 2013, Thandi got a job with a local accounting firm. She welcomed this job, as her family was struggling to make ends meet. Thandi informed her employers that she would like to further her studies and they therefore paid the tuition fees for her to obtain her BCom honours degree. Now that she has completed her honours degree, she has begun to question her career choice. She enjoys the accounting environment because it is routine; however, she is bored with the numerical nature of her work. She wants more, but she cannot clearly identify what she wants. Her line manager refers Thandi to an industrial and organisational (IO) psychologist for career counselling and guidance. She hopes to get assistance in making the right career choice. After a few sessions with the IO psychologist, Thandi completes some career assessments. The results are presented in table 1 below. QUESTION 1

1.1.

Thandi is situated within the "Establishment" stage of Super’s five life and career development
stages. Super's theory, which delineates specific stages in career and personal development,
offers valuable insights into Thandi's current psychological and professional situation. Thandi's
journey, from her initial education to her professional role in an accounting firm and subsequent

Core Characteristics of the Establishment Stage

The Establishment stage, typically encompassing individuals aged 25 to 44, is characterized by
the entry-level skill building and stabilization through work experience. At 30 years old, Thandi
is well within this developmental phase. The primary focus of this stage is for individuals to
secure their place in their chosen careers and to gain a sense of stability and growth through
continued professional experiences.

Psychological Tasks Associated with the Establishment Stage

In the context of Super’s theory, several key psychological tasks define the Establishment stage:

1. Skill Acquisition and Development

Individuals in the Establishment stage are primarily focused on honing the skills acquired during
their education and early career experiences. For Thandi, this has involved developing her
abilities within the accounting field, supported by her BCom degree in Industrial and
Organisational Psychology and her honours degree. Her professional environment has allowed
her to cultivate routine and stability, which align with her high scores in "Security and stability"
on Schein’s career orientations inventory.

2. Stabilization and Consolidation

Another core task in this stage is achieving stability in one’s career. Thandi’s role at the
accounting firm has provided her with financial stability and a predictable work environment,
