Good things come to those who wait. [Proverb]

This story has taken place from the year 1966 onwards and takes place in a place called Merebank. It was
narrated by my grandfather in the English Language. This story starts when my grandparents had got
married; it emphasizes on the proverb “Good things come to those who wait.”

It had all began when they got married; they had lived with their families after getting married in a two
bedroom outbuilding. Into three months of their marriage the opportunity came for them to apply for their
own house in the area called Phoenix had come up for citizens to apply to get either a renal scheme house
or a ownership house. They had know that the wait for the houses would be long but they had assumed the
most it would take would be around one and a half years, has there were a lot of paper work involved.

After two and a half years had passed and they had already had two children and a two month old baby they
had lost all hope. He said I quote “I felt all hope had left from within me, I had high hopes and dreams of
getting my own house” Unquote. He knew that he had to start making/creating his family lifestyle, therefore
he had started to extend his outbuilding and make it comfortable for his family to live in but deep down
inside of him he had a feeling they would get the house.

Six and three quarter of a year had passed and had already had 5 children he had got a phone call stating
they have been approved for a ownership house and had given them house numbers to choose from. He
was overjoyed, he had expressed. He had said that even though he had waited for six years to get a call to
approve their application but he explained that when the day came he did not mind the wait, he said I quote
“Good things comes to those that wait” unquote. He went on to say that not everything gets done by a click
of a finger therefore it is important to wait and be patient because you will never know the outcome of a
matter if you are all rushed and worried. If it’s meant to be yours, it will be there will be no other stoppage
from you achieving it or accomplishing it.

The moral of this story is that even though things might not get done the same time or within the time you
expect it to happen but eventually if you wait you will get the best because “Good things comes to those
that wait” and being patient is a good quality to have as patience is a virtue. This proverb relates to my
language has it shows us as the younger generation that it’s not always nice to rush and be hasty, it shows
us that being patient will eventually give us what we wanted and hoped and dreamed of. The language used
has an effect on my level of understanding of the story, it gives me greater knowledge of what is being said
and the meaning it has to the narrator’s life.

The language used allows me to have greater depth of knowledge about the world view and encourages me
to have a positive attitude towards life and how we treat situations. The language you are spoken in and
that you use as well allows for you as an individual to see the different experiences people have and how it
continues to make them stronger and encourages them to dream bigger because you understand the
language better and there is no need to translate certain words that you feel difficult to understand it
therefore allows you to admire their strength that they have, they may have been young but they have
encountered way more than they should of at that age. This being the reason for you as an individual to
