A capacitor consists of two parallel metal plates which are separated by an insulating material
called a dielectric. Dielectric can be air, vacuum, wax paper, oil or mica.
A capacitor does not store charge but stores energy.
When the capacity is initially uncharged, the number of positive and negative charges on each
plate are equal and the net charge is 0. During charging, the positive and negative charges are
separated. Work is done to move the charges from one plate to another and the work done is
stored as electrical energy.
