, Inleiding
Na ongeveer een week komt de patiënt terug voor de nazorg waarbij
eventueel nog kleine correcties worden doorgevoerd. Hierna is het
belangrijk de patiënt (twee)jaarlijks te blijven zien. Dit is omdat het
kaakbot resorbeert en daardoor de pasvorm van de prothese
vermindert. Door de slechte pasvorm kan er schade worden
aangebracht aan de onderliggende weefsels en kunnen er maligniteiten
ontstaan.
Om de prothese aan te passen kun je een relining uit voeren, dit houdt
in dat de prothesebasis wordt aangepast door het aanbrengen van een
nieuw laagje kunsthars door het tandtechnisch laboratorium. Daarnaast
is er de optie rebasing: de aanpassing van de prothesebasis door
algehele vervanging van de kunstharsbasis.
