Cortes de Cádiz.Las Cortes de Cádiz surgieron durante la guerra de la
Independencia española como respuesta al gobierno
francés. Inicialmente, las Juntas locales tomaron el poder en
nombre de Fernando VII, agrupándose en Juntas provinciales
y luego en la Junta Suprema Central. Esta última cedió sus
poderes al Consejo de Regencia debido a la invasión
francesa de Andalucía. A pesar de la oposición del Consejo
de Regencia, las Cortes se reunieron para hacer su primer
decreto. En este, Los diputados fueron elegidos por sufragio
universal masculino y se separaban en absolutistas,
reformistas y liberales. Las Cortes afirmaron la soberanía
nacional y la división de poderes, marcando así el inicio de
las primeras Cortes liberales en España
La Constitución de 1812, promulgada por las Cortes de
Cádiz, es la primera constitución española. Fue el resultado
del compromiso entre liberales y absolutistas, aunque
quienes se impusieron en mayor medida fueron los
liberales. Esta Constitución estableció la soberanía nacional,
una monarquía limitada con división de poderes, y garantías
de derechos fundamentales.
