FOTO HITLER Y FRANCOEn 1940, durante la ocupación alemana de Hendaia, se capturó una
fotografía que retrata un encuentro entre Hitler y Franco. Esta imagen, de
naturaleza política y propagandística, refleja la diplomacia de la época.
En la escena, ambos líderes desfilan frente a un destacamento de la
Wehrmacht en la estación de Hendaia. Visten uniformes militares, y Franco
hace el saludo fascista.
Después de la Guerra Civil, Franco inició la creación de un nuevo Estado
que era antiliberal, antidemocrático y anticomunista. El régimen político se
basaba en un catolicismo conservador y en una visión unitaria del Estado,
estableciendo un sistema totalitario donde todo el poder estaba concentrado
en Franco. Inspirado en los regímenes fascistas de Alemania e Italia, las
instituciones franquistas fueron evolucionando después de la derrota de
estos países en 1945. A pesar de estar vinculado a las potencias fascistas

ideológicas similares, España se declaró neutral al estallar la Segunda
Guerra Mundial.
