El problema del ser humano enAristóteles.
La antropología de Aristóteles se encuadra dentro de su
estudio de la naturaleza, formada por sustancias
compuestas de materia y forma y sometidas al cambio
substancial y al movimiento. Se distinguen dos tipos,
inertes y vivas. La diferencia entre ambas es el tipo de
movimiento. Afirma que la diferencia entre seres vivos e
inertes tiene que ver con la forma que organiza su
materia. Denomina alma a la forma de los cuerpos
vivos. La ciencia encargada de estudiar el alma de los
seres vivos es la psicología.
Para Platón el alma era algo exclusivo del ser humano
que se encuentra en el mundo por una caída, y el alma
y el cuerpo son dos substancias distintas y su unión es
accidental. Pero para Aristóteles el alma es un principio
operativo común de todos los seres vivos, y se trata de
una unidad estructural, pues materia y forma son los
dos componentes del cuerpo vivo.
Algunos seres solo realizan la generación, nutrición, el
crecimiento y reproducción. De ellos decimos que
poseen exclusivamente alma vegetativa. (Vegetales)
Otros son capaces de percibir los objetos que les
rodean, de desearlos o rechazarlos, poseen alma
sensitiva. (Animales)
Finalmente, el ser humano posee todas las anteriores.
Además, tiene una capacidad de conocer y de actuar
sobre la realidad por el alma racional. Las capacidades
que introducen a este principio son:

denomina entendimiento.
