I. Important Dates and Deadlines
A. RSVP to Orientation Invitation: 3/18/10
B. Attend Orientation: 3/25/10
C. Submit Comprehensive Examination Application to Department of Advanced
Studies: 4/15/10
D. Register for EDGS 7006 – Continuing Comprehensive Examination: 9/1/10
E. Submit written examination (2 hard copies, 1 digital copy): 11/1/10
F. Participate in Oral Examination, if required: 12/2/10
G. Participate in Comprehensive Exam Exit: 12/2/10
II. General Guidelines for the Written Exam
A. Academic honesty. Your written exam must be your own work. Any information or
material that is copied or paraphrased must be credited to the original author. The
digital copy must be submitted to Turnitin on Blackboard. The course is listed as
EDGS 5980-001 under instructor Dr. Mira Mayer. Please note that any form of
plagiarism will result in an automatic failure.
B. Writing style. This is a formal paper that will be kept in your permanent file. Use
professional language with correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence
structure. Use APA style for citations and references.
C. Page limit: You may submit 10-15 pages, excluding references. Be direct, specific
and thorough so that you cover the required areas sufficiently in the space allowed.
