VECTORESHay ciertos eventos en la física que no se pueden predecir o
describir solo con números y unidades. Para estos eventos, se
utilizan magnitudes vectoriales, que son diferentes de las
magnitudes escalares. Las magnitudes vectoriales, como la
fuerza, la velocidad y la aceleración, se representan mediante
vectores, que son segmentos de línea con dirección y sentido.
Un vector no solo muestra cuanto mide la magnitud (su
longitud), sino también hacia donde apunta (dirección), hacia
donde se mueve (sentido) y desde donde comienza (punto de
aplicación.
Para dibujar vectores, es necesario emplear una escala que
muestre la relación entre las dimensiones reales y las que se
utilizan en el dibujo. Esta escala se expresa como una razón,
donde el primer numero indica el valor que se va a
representar y el segundo numero corresponde al valor real.
Por ejemplo, si queremos usar una escala de 1cm por cada
10kg. Así, para ilustrar esa fuerza, debemos dibujar un vector
de 4cm.
