Bilbo begins in his hobbit hole. The special world begins when the dwarves show up at his
house. The ordinary world begins to slip away when something tookish wakes up inside of him.

Bilbo leaves the ordinary world when Gandalf says they are leaving in 10 minutes. -

committed to the Journey. He is prepared to cross the gateway that separates the Ordinary
World from the Special World."
At this point in the book, Bilbo's allies are the dwarves and Gandalf. He finds out that his
enemies are the trolls. He is tested by being tasked with going up to the trolls and stealing one
of their money purses. He fails at this test but starts to learn the rules and ways of the special
