De vrede van VersaillesIn de Vrede van Versailles is een vredesverdrag. Daarin stond dat de oorlog de schuld was van
Duitsland.
Duitsland kreeg hoge herstelbetalingen opgelegd en moesten gebieden inleveren aan andere landen.
De kolonies werden ook verdeeld en Duitsland mocht geen groot leger meer hebben.

Je had dienstplicht of je hield de productie in gang als je achter bleef.
De productie van consumptiemiddelen werd geminimaliseerd en zo ontstond er honger.
9.2 De economische wereldcrisis
De economie liep heel goed in Amerika mensen kochten veel goederen; koelkasten, stofzuigers en
auto’s.
Mensen gingen naar theaters en bioscopen later kwam er ook welvaart in Europa.
De aandelen stegen en mensen kochten massaal aandelen. Maar de koersen stortte in en van de
waarde van veel aandelen bleef weinig over.
Ook heel veel bedrijven, banken en bieren gingen massaal failliet. Ongeveer 1/3 van de Amerikaanse
bevolking werd werkloos
Oorzaken van de crisis:
- Lonen waren achtergebleven door de stijgende productie
- Bedrijven bleven met hun voorraad zitten en ontsloegen personeel
Crisisbestrijding:
Er kwam herstel toen Roosevelt een beleid staatsonthouding en bezuiniging uitvoerde. NEW DEAL
Banken kregen een lening, werklozen financiële steun van de regering. En het hielp de economie trok
aan en de werkloosheid daalde.
