Buspirone (Buspar) - Answer Antianxiety
- adverse effects: nausea, blurred vision
- nursing: no grapefruit juice!
- pt ed: avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants -- monitor LFTs
Lorazapam (Ativan) - Answer Benzodiazepine
- Indications: anxiety, insomnia, main drug for alcohol withdrawal
- Adverse Rxn: dizziness, drowsiness
- Nursing: monitor LFTs, can lead to addiction
- Pt Ed: do not skip or double up and do not stop abruptly
Thorazine (chlorpromazine) - Answer Antipsychotic
- Indications: schizophrenia
- Adverse Rxn: EPS, dyskinesia, NMS, sedation
- Nursing: baseline ECG, tardive dyskines, NMS
- Pt Ed: monitor for side effects
Clozapine (Clozaril) - Answer Antipsychotic
- Indications: schizophrenia
- Adverse Rxn: wt gain, dizziness/drowsiness
Cogentin (benztropine) - Answer Antiparkinson Agent
- Indications: Parkinson's disease
