The movie “Cyberbully” is about the teenage Taylor
who is cyberbullied by her peers from school. In the
beginning of the movie, Taylor has two best friends
and goes to school normally. At home, her family
consists of her brother and her overprotective
mother, who didn’t allow her to do things online.
Taylor is very ecstatic when she is gifted a laptop on
her birthday, which she can go online with. At this
point of the movie, Taylor lives her life normally, in
love with Scott at school and unhappy at home.
Later in the movie, Taylor’s peers say hurtful things
about her and harass her, even Samantha, on of her
two best friends, creates a fake account and joined
in. At this point of the movie, Cheyenne and Taylor
have a dispute. After that, they don’t talk to each
other. Taylor is left alone to defend herself. She is
scared and hurt, also not brave enough to stand up
for herself. The cyberbullying escalated until Taylor
decides to commit suicide. She has no hope left. Her
attempt failed. The doctor who is in charge og=f her
recommended a therapy group. Coming to an end,
we can see Taylor accepting herself and learning
different methods to protect herself through the
therapy sessions. She now opens up about her
mother who she up until now thinks that is very
strict and mean. Her mother apologized and they
bond. In the end, Lindsay, on of her bullies tries to
provoke her but Taylor and Samantha bravely stand
p for themselves.
In conclusion, Taylor transformed from a timid and
self-conscious person to learning to accept and
protect herself to actually stand and speak up
against the bullies.
