Beer - Answer -A fermented malt beverage containing 0.5% or more alcohol by volume.
Cider - Answer -- An alcoholic beverage obtained through the fermentation of apple & pear juice. The
term includes flavored, sparkling, and carbonated cider.
- It contains greater than 0.5% alcohol by volume but less than 7% alcohol by volume.
Intoxicating Liquor (Or Liquor) - Answer -All alcoholic beverages (other than beer) containing .5% or
more alcohol by volume, and all wines.
Licensed Operator - Answer -- There must be at least one Licensed Operator on premises at all times.
- Must be in the immediate vicinity of alcohol service areas.
- If there are multiple floors, serving or bar areas, or locations that provide alcohol service, then there
must be more than one licensed operator.
Operators' License - Answer -- Valid for only the specified time period
, - Cannot be used by anyone other than the individual/LLC/corporation to whom it was issued
- Violations of these rules can result in your alcohol beverage license being revoked.
Liquor License Qualifications - Answer -- At least 21 years old (the legal drinking age)
- Continuously lived in Wisconsin for 90 days prior to the date of application.
- Individual must obtain a sellers permit.
- Must complete a state-approved responsible beverage course.

Seller's Permit - Answer -- Any individual that operates a business which involves the selling of tangible
goods is required to have a sellers permit.
- The alcohol beverage license and seller's permit must both be in the same legal name! This includes
partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies. (For LLC's, you must always issue alcohol
beverage license in the legal name of the company)
Class A Fermented Malt Beverage License - Answer -- Authorizes the retail sale of beer or beer-based
coolers.
- Products must be sold in their original, sealed containers and are for consumption off of the licensed
premises.
- Commonly utilized by grocery and convenience stores.
- No sales to other licenses for resale.
- May sell in any quantity to the public.
- Sale of beer is prohibited between 12am and 6am (local municipal laws may further restrict these
hours)
- May provide customers with two free 3oz taste samples of beer between 11am and 7pm.
Class A Liquor License - Answer -- Authorizes the retail sale of liquor or wine.
