Imperialism did grow throughout all sections of society as knowledge of the empire’s
successes and power globally was more widely acknowledged. The economic benefits
were experienced by most sections of society and there was a sense of imperial duty
felt by the ruling elite in the late nineteenth and early 20 century. The growth of the
popularity was achieved by the golden age of the popular press, the growth of youth
organisations and use of imperialism in party politics to gain support.
